Works exactly as advertised
Personally I take the occasional long-exposure image but I hate carrying a tripod everywhere I go so I often end up balancing the camera on a bag, fence etcI've tried the micro tripod option but I found they didn't cope very well with a heavier camera, so I started looking for a beanbag option and found Pod.For the price I think this is a very high quality product. It's made from a really tough feeling material and I can't see it suffering any da... Show More

Brilliant tool that everyboy should get!
I used the green pod several times so far, mainly for low angle photography. For example I used it when I was taking splash shots of coffee cups on the ground and I a) did not want to put my camera on the dirty ground and b) I wanted it to be a little higher than if I had put it on the ground directly. I also used it several times to take self portraits at the beach and at other locations because it allows me to take said low angle shots that I r... Show More

very nice...
my review, I I received the pod fairly quickly. it's a very nice size and, it is a great support for my camera. you screw it into the bottom of your camera, and strap your lens down. it feels really good in a palm of my hand when I'm holding my camera taking pictures. sometimes you even forget it's even there, it's so comfortable to use. and when you do need it, it's really nice that you can set it on any surface that is uneven and, get a great l... Perfect for tricky setup situations!
The Green Pod is a fantastic tool for those situations in which a tripod won't work but you don't want to balance your camera in an unsafe location. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to get a self-portrait on the trail but the only place to set up the camera was on a rock - this solves that problem! Easy to use and lightweight, so you'll barely notice it in your backpack. My only complaint is the shape - it might be better designed to c... Show More

Great little piece of gear.
I bought this to use on shoots that I can't bring sticks to. I often shoot bands in clubs and have often wanted to make use of ledges, bars and table tops because it can be very difficult to shoot in such a small space when on sticks (or they don't permit it at all). I used it last night to film a band and set it on the table top at the bar and it worked fantastic. After receiving it, I put it on my dashboard and drove through Malibu Canyon and g... Show More

Gets the job done
Does exactly what it's meant to. Supports larger cameras remarkably well, I had no problems with my Canon 5D MkII and 16-35L lens. Small enough to be useful with GoPros and iPhone cameras (both need simple adaptor for a tripod screw) and not any considerable weight or space consideration so it's really easy to carry around. On a recent trip I found this did 90% of what I needed a tripod for. I now throw it in the back of my motorcycle for roadside shots on the GoPro. Only regret is I should've bought one of these years ago when I first saw them!

Works where a tripod doesn't
I needed a way to stabilize my Nikon D300 in NYC when I was shhoting the Christmas lights. Trying to use a tripod with the crowded sidewalks was not practical, so I used this pod with very good success. My stock agency accepted several of my images that i shot with it. The trick is to find a friendly mailbox, bench, or fence to rest the pod on. Although it has a tripod mount, i didn't use it rather just put pressure on the camera as I was taking the shot. I think this would provide sharp shots of 1-2 seconds with a bit of practice.

Is this a joke?
I can't believe the number of positive reviews on this. My GF bought me this for Christmas. It's useless. I'm surprised that BandH would even sell something like this. Now I have to have an awkward conversation with my GF because I will never be able to use this. It's not like an ugly shirt I can wear just to make her feel good, I can't even pretend to find a function for this. Guess what, you achieve the same results by rolling up your jacket and resting your camera on it. Or take a ziplock bag and fill it with rice.

A very useful accessory
This is my 2nd one, after having the 1st one stolen. I have, surprisingly, been unable to find any other compact bean baggish accessory. I sometimes carry it around attached to the lens and it's thick enough to enable me to change the angle of the lens. I find it quite useful for selfies and times when I don't have my monopod or tripod. The only small negative is that when screwed tightly to my Lumix 100-400, the lens does not line up straight across the Pod, so I have to loosen it/back it off.

A great addition to my camera bag.
I've been toying with the idea of purchasing a bean bag, and this was a great solution for me. I knew if I bought one of the larger ones, it would probably stay in the bag rather than going hiking with me. This is small enough, and light enough for my purposes. I don't often get down on the ground to take photos, but this worked to balance on fence posts and on the car door. I found it awkward to zoom when the strap was attached, so I just left it unattached.

When you need it, you need it
Okay, this is one of those things that you may rarely use, but get one and put it in your bag. I can put my camera safely on the ground for macro or low perspective shots without worry. I dont know how many times I have been traveling and wanted a safe steady way to support my camera on a rock, a fence post etc, and either did not have my tripod or it was too cumbersome and this would work great. The way it mounts, it even supports your lens.

Great for safari shooting
I used the Green Pod with a Canon 50D and their 18-200mm zoom lens. The Green Pod is the prefect size for this camera lens combination. It is well made and easily attaches to the camera. It allows easy stabilization of the camera on nearly all surfaces, especially uneven ones. I used the device when standing up through the sunroof of a 4x4 and while shooting through an open window. I would especially recommend the Pod for safari shooting.

Green Pod is a Very Poor Design
The number of positive reviews is a big surprise. This Green Pod is advertised as primarily to be used with DSLRs and telephoto zoom lenses. I should have observed the image shown more carefully, since by inspection both the strap and pad prevent zooming and focusing. I have no idea what the velcro pad underneath the lens is to be used for. Neither my Olympus nor Canon systems work without great compromise. It's a big disappointment.

Great emergency alternative to a tripod
I used this beanbag to take long exposures (around 8 seconds) from the observation tower of the Rockerfeller building in NYC at night (you're not allowed to take a tripod up). It was great for my Nikon D80 with 18-200mm zoom and although it is not as stable as a tripod, the results are perfectly usable. You'll need to use a remote release or the self-timer to release the shutter and even better if you have a mirror lock-up feature.

Great Item !!
I use a Pod a lot. It's a very quick and easy substitute for a tripod and useful in situations where a tripod is not an option. I have two (green & red). My only comment is that I wish they provided a cover for the tripod screw because I often use it without screwing it in and the screw can scratch. Overall it's one of my most useful photographic tools and I always have one with me.

Useful, right size, functional
Should have purchased one of these a long time ago, kept using whatever I had in my pocket, lifting up the camera and leaving my stuff. Not good. This is lightweight, the plastic fill works quite well, and I don't mind having the 1/4-20 screw, it's easy to just ignore it and still get good camera support. Less expensive than others, and comes with the fill. A good choice for DSLR.

Go Low or Unique with the Pod!
You can do great low video shoots, or McGyver a tripod support out of a fence or tree limb. It conforms to where you want it to be. You do have to fiddle a bit to get it stable so only 4 stars. Perhaps I'll try adding more fill/pellets to see if that will help. It does what I need it to do, though I also find the base screw a little frustrating to secure down my camera.

good bag, bad camera attachment
This feature is kind of silly: it has a 1/4-20 mounting screw on the bottom, but no way to turn it so it screws into the camera. Why bother? And the adjustment belt is over-engineered with fasteners; a simple Velcro-like strap would be quicker and smarter. But it gets 3 stars for being useful as a small bean bag. FYI, it also handles large wide-angle zoom lenses well.

Terrific for using the remote
This has a place to attach this to the bottom of your camera so it doesn't fall off. This helps the larger SLR cameras stay together with the Pod. I like it since it helps steady my large SLR lens on a surface and get in the picture and use the remote to snap the photo. So much easier than trying to find an object to sit under the camera to make it level.

Good when you can't use a tripod
I used this with a Canon 5DII and a 24-105 in Italy. It helped me get great shots in places where tripods are not allowed, particularly churches and cathedrals. I agree with other reviewers who suggest using a cable release or timer. My only minor complaint is that the plastic fastener on the loop securing the lens can be a bit difficult to release.

Disappointed
I was disappointed to find out that my camera would not align with the mounting strap after screwing the base of the camera onto the Pod. This made strapping the lens to the Pod, so you're able to pick up both camera and Pod together as one unit, impossible. I did not use it for the whole ten days of our photo safari.

Handy little gadget
I usually take an empty nylon bag with me when I travel and pick up a bag of dry beans to stuff it with and that works fine. This is a bit better because you can attach it to your camera/lens base and it stabilizes them when you're shooting out the car window. It also holds them upright just sitting on the car seat.

Multiple uses given some thought
I have used the pod as a protective device. It can protect a longer lens by being a support/cover on a railing..etc to lay on. The loops on the pod used for the strap can be useful with other bindings. I'm finding that it would be nicer to have the threaded screw longer making it easier for attachment.

Useful and Well Made
Great for easily setting up a camera on a table top, a rock or any other surface. The material is durable and well constructed. It holds the camera securely. Very compact and easier to carry around than a tripod. It would be nice if there were an option to remove the mounting screw.
