I fell in love with the TH-200Xs but mine were getting worn out. When I saw this go up as the daily pick on guitar center, I was elated. These must be a step up from those, right? Boy was I wrong. I will say that the TH-300X are visually appealing, and well designed in that aspect. They're also the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. However, the sound is just abysmal. I was working on a piece of music and nearly had a heart attack because of how bad the mix sounded in these compared to the 200s. Don't spend the extra money on these and just buy the 200s. ... More

The Tascam TH-300X Headphones I received sounded HORRIBLE. I did my homework and read many good reviews; however, the headphones I received sounded flat, like I was in a cardboard box and the sound source was outside of the box. For comparison I have Shure SRH440 (around $100), which sound good with a full frequency range (bass, mid, treble). I also have cheaper Musician's Gear MG900 Studio Headphones ($20)... not as good as Shure... but okay for the price point. The Tascam TH-300X I bought were on the MF Deal of the Day... but in the end, these were not even close to the cheap $20 MG900 I have. And Honestly, they were so bad, I return them and after having to pay for restocking charge and return shipping cost... I feel burned by both MF and Tascam. I wonder if I even got true Tascam headphones... maybe these were knock-offs and why they were the MF Deal of the Day? I after I bought based on see good reviews, I needed to set the record straight... these were crazy bad headphones. Expect to loss $20 on return cost when you find the same thing I did. ... More

Bought these on stupid deal of the day and they are horrible. Returning to the store tomorrow. Very bass heavy so I can't imagine monitoring with these. No high end whatsoever. Kinda sounds like great headphones muffled. Don't waste your money. Gave them 2 stars because they are lightweight and comfortable.

We have purchased 6 pairs of these headphones over the past 3 years. They work well for personal use for listening to music, and we still use 2- or 3-year-old pairs for that. However, we also purchased 4 pairs for a home studio (teenage rock band) to use for rehearsals and tracking, and they are NOT durable enough for heavy use. The thin plastic parts at the ears broke on one pair, and the wiring near the 1/8" stereo plug wore out on that one plus another, yielding an intermittent (but even then, weak) signal. I attempted to repair the wiring (put a good 1/4" TRS connector on the cable) but each of the wires inside consist of maybe 10 individually-shielded strands. Extremely flimsy and impossible to solder. Even at Daily Pick prices ($40 / pair), these are a poor value because they break so easily. When the last two pairs break, they will be replaced by something more durable (e.g., our Sennheiser HD-280s are far sturdier at a slightly higher MSRP). ... More

Good entry level headphone, very comfortable, can wear for hours. High's and low's could be better, very mid range based...not for professional studio application. Good headphones to test your productions so you can hear on a lower quality headphone.

I was looking for a set of headphones for mixer monitoring. I'm use to my Sony MDR-7506 studio monitor headphones but I thought I would give the Tascam's a try. Frequency response and tone are GREAT! This is now my go to set of headphones. The only negative is they are not as comfortable as the Sony's for wearing long periods of time, but I hope this will change with use. Mark B

now I see why GC is going out of business, I ordered online and picked it up about a week later, whereas their competitors are offering better return time, second I went into the store and there was barely staff to help, for small items there should be a Kiosk, like for guitar strings, picks or stuff that you know you want instead of having to wait, the headphones are good for their price but again these are like $40-50 headphones depending on where you find them, and you get what you pay for, the guy assisting me was ok but considering there were two people behind the register, one guy completely ignored me he didn't even make eye contact- he didn't even say, If no one is helping you then I will be with you after I stop pretending to be busy, the headphones are good whereby I can hear both highs and lows and the cushioning is enough not to push against my ears but for a $200 pair of headphones the clap like style of the spring is more comfortable and lighter against your head, these are bulky and tight and heavy, but again you get what you pay for right- look these are Tascam, a good pair of headphones for a good price ... Bought these as a back-up set for Yamaha MT-8. The Tascam TH-300x are by far the worse sounding headphones I have ever heard. I would rather use CHEAP ear buds instead of these. The sound is so muddy that there is little separation in the sounds of the different instruments. Everything runs together in a mud bath of midrange. Maybe my problem was A/B between the Yamaha's and these. The Yamaha's are nearly perfect in comparison. Do not attempt to mix with these...maybe monitoring during a session when NOTHING else is available would be OK.

My second pair of the same model. Great sound for general listening of music and a very manageable coiled cable. Sound response has not very high bass, but more flatter response with a bit more treble side, the mids appear to be flatter to me. Good for watching videos, youtube videos, monitoring, general music listening, and multitracking on a handheld or portable recorder. Not really a DJ type Pump Up Da bass thing. I bought these when they were on special discount, at GC, otherwise they are close to some of the AudioTechnica and Shure ones, then I would try the other ones. ... More

I'm really perplexed by these headphones. They are well built - quality materials and very solid feel. I wish the same attention was given to the frequency response. So much bass that it's overwhelming in certain applications. These aren't a bad choice for monitoring and having on hand in the studio, but there are other closed back headphones that will give you a much crisper and truer sound for a fraction of the price.

These headphone replace a pair of Yamahas that I used for mixdown mastering that I had for at least three years before these p=leather wore out. Bought these 2 years ago on the Stupid Deal Of The Day (or Daily Pick, can't remember which), because I needed headphones for my home studio. I thought I was buying cheap headphones to get me by until I could buy better ones. But I was so impressed with them, I bought a second set for use with my band. The sound reproduction is quite accurate and they have good sound isolation. For my purposes, I need quality, uncolored sound... and these deliver!

Absolutely the best thing since titanium. Great sound-blocking so mics don't pick up sound when adding tracks. Comfortable to wear, a long coiled cord (10 ft/3 m). It has an eighth-inch (3.5 mm) plug, and comes with an 1/8-to-1/4 inch adapter that screws into place! They look pretty classy, too, with chrome-looking highlights. High power handling, good fidelity...you're jealous already!

Relatively comfortable fit and light weight. Nice feel though the plastic on the ear pieces can get slightly uncomfortable over a few hours of use. I enjoy more for listening than any studio work because the bass seems be artificially boosted - nice for listening not so good for mixing IMHO.. Great value at the Stupid Deal pricing.
