I play guitar and bass...poorly. These allow me to play and not bother others. My instruments are set up across the room from my home theater. So while the girls are watching The Bachelor I can be playing and we don't distract each other. Perfect. Seriously though they sound better than my old Sonys and have a cable long enough to plug into my pedal board and sit on a stool and play.

These are quality headphones at a reasonable price.

I ordered them because of the price. They sound different from my Sony 7506s. They sound more like what comes out of the speakers. The Sonys sound a little hyped and too good. If you need to know what your mix is going to sound like I recommend them.

Would purchase again

I use this product as a reference monitor when editing and processing studio & live recordings that I have made of various local bands. The headphones I've used in the past haven't been able to provide me with an accurate representation of how my work will sound when played over a full range sound system. These, to my ears, give me an accurate read on how well balanced my recordings are, especially at the low end, which is what I was most lacking.

I bought this 20 days ago, and started to realize that it is giving the white noise even if nothing is playing. I didn't want to return it, so I called TASCAM for the warranty. They said that I need to pay the shipping. I told them I bought the headset less than a month and it is not fair for me to pay the shipping, but they wouldn't provide me with the shipping label. This is not good customer service. I contacted different earphone company before three years ago about the same issue, they offered two free ones plus offering the free shipping label. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this product. ... More

Definitely a plus for my home studio. I can work for a long time without ear-fatigue because I can keep the volume lower and still get all the tones and clarity I want. I haven't tried any of those $180 to $450 type headphones so they might do something even better(massage my ears?)but these 'phones are in my price range and I like them.

Bought these for home studio. Not bad at first, what you would expect from cheap headphones, BUT they did not last. I have several pairs and they are all going in the trash because they cut out. Its seems like the wiring inside is shorting out. When they do play, its not a full sound. CHEAP wiring. If you have the budget, I'd look else where. If you do choose to buy these, I'd recommend being extremely delicate with them.

Have nice balanced sound with decent but not overbearing bass. I use these with my Tascam eight track recorder. More expensive headphones have lots of bass in playback, but when tracks are converted to mp3, they sound thin. These Tascam phones give me a better idea of what the converted master will sound like. At the sale price, they were a great bargain.

These are decent headphones, but I would recommend them only for listening to lectures, installing them in an education center, library, training videos/lectures for employees. This is not a Studio grade headphone in my opnion. The TH-300x is much much better, the 200x is not even close to it. The frequency curve/graph is kind of strange, a boost in the middle, little enhanced bass, but not like the 300x (too much bass also). Just above the low frequencies and below the high frequencies, the signal is attenuated a bit (scooped). That is how it sounds to me upon listening. Watching TV is ok, but even my very not audiophile wife can tell the difference between these and the 300x and prefers the 300x. The price is high, even when on sale. these sound like twenty to twenty five buck headphones. I do not recommend these for music listening on an mp3 player. It will work but not very well for sound. Also I prefer the sound of the Sennheiser HD201 over these, should be in the same category. The 200x is built much sturdier than the Sennheiser HD201 though. Cable and plug are molded much nicer. ... I bought these to replace my old studio headphones. They worked fine for about 2 months, but the cord is very touchy at the input and I have to constantly wiggle it and readjust to get sound. I take good care of my gear and haven't had this issue with other phones. At this point I'd rather have my old $20 phones that at least lasted me several years. Would not recommend.

I use these primarily for audio editing instead of my somewhat bass boosted gaming headphones, although editing on headphones is not ideal. I will also occasionally use them as monitor headphones while I'm recording, but I hate do so. They are almost always plugged into my audio interface. The headphones are extremely light, which is nice, and fully cover my fairly small ears. They are compatible both with 1/4" and 1.5mm headphone jacks. They seem flatter than my gaming headphones, but that's about all I like. They are made almost entirely out of plastic, and I can hear the components shifting every time even a muscle twitches on my head. It's maddening. They sound every so slightly tinny, and sometimes I even hear them producing a metallic sound. Because of the nature of the sound and the maddening shifting noises, they aren't even enjoyable to use for recreation. ... More

I got these when they were part of the Stupid Deal of the Day and figured that at 66% off, I couldn't go wrong, intending to use them mainly as a secondary pair of monitoring headphones in my home studio. Unfortunately while being advertised as being flat, these are most definitely not. When compared to my other pair of affordable headphones (Audio-technica ATH-M30x), the difference is stunning. The AT's are very good--in fact, their sound quality is as flat as some $300-500 ones I've used. These Tascam headphones require a lot of EQ just to get a similar sound, meaning that while they're useful as monitoring headphones or maybe just for casual listening, they're utterly useless for any aspect of mixing. They definitely beat the AT's for comfort though. ... More

Closed back design helps with mic bleed, and not a great deal of clamping force. Just enough to allow for long tracking sessions without much bleed. If too loose then you can put both hands on your ears to seal them tight. I got the stupid deal and am pleasantly surprised on the quality of drivers. Not reference and a little hyped, but for tracking vocals...it helps smooth out the bed tracks. Biggest con is the non removable cable. I remember these from eons ago and the number one issue Is stepping on the cord and then needing to resolder the connections. Works great for a digital piano and listening for king periods! ... More
