does this mic prove legendary performance? it Shure does! (lol) this mic is one of the best you'll ever sing though. i bought this mic for my singer, and he loved how clear his voice sounded. better yet, we now dont have to turn our PA system up full blast to hear him sing. if you need a good mic, especially for vocals, get this one, it will not disappoint you. this mic may be a bit pricy, but its worth the money.

This mic is the perfect choice for live vocal situations, especially for male vocalists. Take advantage of this mic's fantastic low end by positioning it on axis, about 1 inch away from the performer's mouth. Very robust...mine has been dropped several times and keeps on keepin on. Be prepared to purchase some replacement grills every now and then, as the majority of abuse occurs there - dents and dings from drops or even teeth. Great buy!!

I think this has to be one of the most durable products ever. Produces a great sound, and they are reasonably priced and seem to last for ever.

This is my first ever microphone. I do youtube videos and plan on using this for podcasting as well. The mic itself is fantastic quality - both physically and in it's sound. Sometimes I use a pop filter / windscreen on it, sometimes I don't - it sounds great either way. I mostly use this with the stand clip and attach it to my boom arm, but it is nice to have the option to use the full size floor stand that comes in this kit also. The cable itself is long enough so I don't feel tied so closely to the equipment and I can position things differently without too much work. Definitely will consider this again when i need another mic. ... More

My boyfriend and I have a band together and after having issues with other brands of microphones, he said that's enough and we ordered the SM58's and we couldn't be happier. The sound is so crisp and full. It's like no other microphone I've ever used and I absolutely love how my voice registers through it. I'm no sound expert or anything like that but I wanted to share what a great experience it has been singing into this amazing microphone. We have a show tomorrow might and I can't wait to use it again! Thank you Shure for making such a great quality piece of equipment and thank you to Guitar Center for the excellent Customer Service. ... More

Needed a microphone to use for a wedding in my back yard. This mic produces excellent sound, in part due to its low sensitivity and impedence. However, as I discovered, you must have the right equipment and connections to amplify and output the sound to your speakers. Tried using an adaptor that converts from mic xlr to 3.5 mm plug (from Shure), and plugged it into my computer. The sensitivity voltage of the computer audio card was too high compared to the mic output, so all I got out of the computer was a tiny whisper. Then I used an old tapedeck (with correct sensitivity) to receive the mic input, which was then output to my receiver/amplifier. To connect the mic to the tapedeck I needed an adaptor that converted the mic balanced xlr output to an unbalance phone plug. That setup did not work, and I suspect the tapedeck was the culprit. I ended up buying a small mixer which had an xlr plug to connect directly with the mic. So make sure you know you have the right equipment before you buy. ... More

The Shure SM58S is a classic! This is been one of the most popular vocal mics for 30 years! They're extremely durable. I've owned several of them over the years, and no matter how many times they've been dropped, they still work! They have a warm, crisp sound that's perfect for live performance.

I just changed the grill on my old SM58 yesterday before a gig. That's when I realized that I've been using this same mic for 20 years. Apart from changing the grille twice, I've never had to mess with it. Sure it's all scratched up. It's been dropped, thrown and spilled on more times than I care to remember, but this thing has never let me down and it still sounds great. As far as I'm concerned, there are no other vocal mic's for the stage. It's good to know you can still find things that are built to last.

This microphone is incredibly well constructed, weighted for balance and heavy duty enough to take the bumps and bruises it endures. The on/off switch eliminates the possibility of a hot mic during set breaks and songs on stage. The vocal response of this mic fits all my needs from rock to ballads. It's smooth and sensitive when you need it but also lively and bright to handle all my bands requirements.

I am most excited about having an SM 58 which I think is still a state-of-the-art performance mic, since I was a child (and I am soon to be 59 years old). If Celine Dion can use it on "The Voice" then I can certainly use it in my performances.

I use the ShureSM58 along with my Zoom H4n to recored my weekly pro-wrestling podcast The Work of Wrestling. The SM58 is leaps and bounds better than cheaper USB condenser mics and the like. If you can afford it, you can't really go wrong with this one. It's definitely a must to study a bit to figure out what equipment best suits your needs (and to spend a bit of time figuring out the proper-recording level), but if you're looking for a good kit for a podcast the Shure Voice Over Kit from B&H gives you everything you need (save a H4N) - XLR cable, Stand, clip, and the mic itself. Can't recommend it enough. ... More

The Shure Sm 58 is a little "boomy" in the bass; it is great for rock vocals. You probably know the Shure Sm 58 they are used for rock by everybody. You should see the waveform frequencies of a mic before you buy it . Some mics have a waveform that comes with the microphone. I have a Sennheiser, it is transparent across all the frequencies an even waveform and frequency response, I use it for other things, sometimes back-up vocals. I let the singer have the"boomy"sound for Rock leas singing. the mic has a screen inside for "pops" it is built solid. ... More

The most popular stage vocal microphone ever. As durable and indestructable as any piece of musical equipment can be, the Shure SM58 is the best wired stage vocal micrphone ever. I'm willing to bet that there isn't a professional vocalist in the US who hasn't sung into one of these. Also note that because it shares a capsule with the SM57 (probably the most popular snare and amp microphone) it can be used for micing drums and amps in a pinch. It has slightly reduced high end because of its durable windscreen, but if someone steals your SM57, you can get by with the SM58 with a little treble boost on the console. ... More

I record professionally for audio, video, and increasingly for live-streaming. COVID restrictions have limited concerts to outdoors, and/or with social distancing and barricades. Thus I have found close miking almost essential. The SM58 mic is very good for vocals, and does well for winds and brass in a jazz ensemble. They're rugged enough for the vicissitudes of outdoor environments, and wiping down protocols where studio mics could be easily damaged. I bought sixteen to meet current needs, and will probably end up with 24-32 in my road kit.

I bought this mic about 3 months ago and have not looked back since. I plug this into my multitrack recorder and recording great quality vocals is a breeze. The sound is clear and crisp from this mic. I use a pop shield with mine and it works great. It is a little pricey but I can easily justify the purchase price as my vocal recordings have become very good through using this mic. The mic has great range on it and is built like a tank. Many people have bought this mic and kept them for years. So I know it is built to last. I look forward to doing many vocal recordings with this great Mic. ... More

I've gotten this similar set up before as the price is right and I really like the SM58 mics. The mic stand though, is built heavier than the one I had before, making it stronger and more durable! The mic works well and the mic cable that comes with it, is your standard 20 ft cable. I would recommend that you purchase a better mic cable and keep the one that comes with this package, as an emergency back-up. Other than the mic cable... the price is right for this package. If I ever need to add a third mic to my set-up... I'm buying this one again! ... More

I needed a mic for our new backup singer for an upcoming gig. My guitarist recommended the Shure SM58, same one as he uses except his has the switch. Now I respect his talent AND his judgement. I couldn't believe how much better she sounded coming through this mic versus the one she used at the rehearsal studio. I know you can spend a lot more on a microphone and if I did this full time maybe I would but for weekend warriors like us, the cost and the quality are perfect.

I've owned Shure mikes in the past and never had a bad one. The last three #58's I had got stolen some time ago. I paid less for my new 58 than I did for the ones I bought 20 years ago. Hard to believe. The quality is still the best bang for the buck. Very notable difference between the 58 and the much lower cost Nady's I have. The 1st thing I noticed is that I had to turn the volume on the PA down a bunch for the 58. Not because of feedback, it was just too loud. No hum or pop. Crisp clear sound. I am ordering 2 more 58s very soon and I'll keep a better eye on them. ... More
