Though this little device is expensive, it is hardly worthy of the price. Low frequency artifacts are introduced into the mix via MIDI In. Without the right patch sound or watching the MIDI events scroll on the screen, one would guess that the MIDI signal is being dropped. I have tried working the incident with M-Audio and the tech G.W. doesn't even read the issue. I keep getting one sentence responses, including that he was glad that my problem was solved. It isn't solved. Not even close. On the internet, reviews make it obvious that others are experiencing the same problem without resolution. My Uno is now in the closet and I installed the M-Audio 1010LT instead. I like their products as a rule. Spend the extra money and skip a USB interface. ... More

Works well with Yamaha grand piano. Bought this one because the equivalent Yamaha product was out of stock. Windows recognized and automatically installed the driver, but then I ran into issues- Windows did not show up any midi interface despite the hardware being recognized and driver installing ok. After much research and hunting on the internet found that the issue is related to my Logitech webcam driver. It seems this issue affects other usb midi interfaces also. To save you the trouble of tracking down the fix for this, here is what I found (in a forum) and now works perfectly: 1. Go into the registry editor (go to Start Menu, Run and type regedit) 2. Go to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and delete the two items LowerFilters and UpperFilters 3. Go to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11DO-BEC7-08002BE2092F} and delete the item LowerFilters 4. Go to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC5-810F-11DO-BEC7-08002BE2092F} and delete the item UpperFilters 5. Move back to the root of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ 6. Launch a search (i.e Ctrl F with the option to search in Data) and type LVUSBSTA. For any place found (only in the Control\Class area), just delete the LowerFilters item (it is the item that contain the value LVUSBSTA found). 7. Then uninstall the midi device driver, unplug it and plug it back in. Windows should recognise it and install it and it should work! ... More

I'm a proficient guitarist, good-enough piano player, and casual music recorder -- I go through Garage Band, record myself through one dynamic mic and don't know a whole lot about the finer points of mixing/producing. I was intrigued by MIDI though, having never even pursued that route before. So I got one of these guys and plugged it in to my Casio CDP-100 and my iMac, and bam, I was up and running. No install, nothing. Just spent a few hours playing with all the various instruments--including some fine organs, and a nice tremolo is controlled by the sustain pedal. Seriously, I'm a beginner with this and I'm already inspired to learn a whole lot more. ... More

I've been using this for a few months now, and while it's not a high-end piece of musical equipment, it gets the job done, and done well for a low price. think about picking up one of these instead of a usb 1x1 interface box. there's no software that comes with it except for the device drivers, and granted, if you were to drop it on concrete, it'd bust, but for a small or portable home studio where you only need one midi device or you only need to use one device at once, it's great. i give it 2.5 for features only because there really aren't any features. it's basically plug and play. the only issue i've had is that when plugged into a different usb port, it tries to reinstall the drivers, but i solved that by plugging it into a usb2 port, and connect to the same port on my laptop every time. ... The M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface allows you to connect your amp head to your computer through a bus connection. I know it works with a 2.0 bus, not sure if it works with a 1.0 bus. I purchased mine for use with an HD 147 amp head and a Compaq Presario Computer. The Uno didn't break your bank, and it offers excellent connectivity. I transfered tones back and forth without a hitch. I had it disconnected behind my speaker cabinet with dust and all for a long time. The Uno worked fine, when I hooked it back up. You're not looking at a very complicated product. Mine came in great shape, and I've kept it for some future amp after selling my HD 147. What more can you ask for in a simple, inexpensive item that does it's function well. ... More

I messed around with this thing for two hours trying to install the driver for it. I even went to their website and downloaded the new driver that supposedly fixed the problem. That, however, was to no avail. After I checked out a forum, I figured out that M-Audio never even bothered to make support for Windows 8. So now it's useless piece of plastic. It looks nice and I'm sure it does miracles on other operating systems, but until they can get support for Windows 8, it's useless to me.

We have two MIDI keyboards of different brands (Yamaha and Casio) and it worked for both of them with slightly different results, but both were quite satisfactory and would consider purchasing another just so that both of them could be used at the same time. We use this in conjunction with Apple's GarageBand and works like a charm-- it's basically plug-n-play. We would use our MIDI keyboard to key in notes with whatever software instrument track that was available as it records them. Overall, we would recommend this for those that don't have the money to spend on an actual USB MIDI Keyboard, but have an old working keyboard with a MIDI interface. Or for those that just needs a quick and affordable connection from keyboard to computer, but don't need the extra features from higher-end audio boxes. ... More

This was my first MIDI interface I ever purchased. It was great! I didn't have to install any drivers (on PC) at all, just plug it in and go. The simple USB hookup makes everything easy. I never once had any trouble with it, and would recommend it to anyone who is starting to get into working with MIDI, or anyone who just wants a budget gadget to use for messing around. I don't use mine anymore, as I have moved on to using larger interfaces, but this little wonder allowed me to expand my experience with virtual instrumentation.

In fact, if you're going to use a midi-usb-interface cable and you have a Yamaha, just get the one for Yamaha's; it's not that much of a price difference. I was a bit concerned about this product at first because I read some folks were having latency issues, garbled MIDI data streams, and compatibility problems with Windows 7 64-bit. Out of the box, Windows 7 picked up on the device right away and installed its own driver for it. The latency was pretty bad but that's not unexpected with a sound card not designed for this kind of thing. This interface works flawlessly for what I'm using it for. From what I understand from others, using a midi interface to link a Vox Tonelab LE Pedal Board to a USB port on a computer is hit or miss depending on the interface. Some don't work at all (which Tonelab's manual makes aware), others work but only after tediously reconfiguring the computer to accept it. I plugged the UNO in and in a matter of minutes I was editing away on my Tonelab. Stupendo!
