I use this for everything one would use a mic for. Skype calls, gaming, podcasting, music recording, etc. It works phenomenally for all of these activities. The Blue Yeti, which is the upgraded version of this product, is a little better and has a few more features. But the Snowball is absolutely the best microphone you can get in this price range. It's not just good for its price range, it's good in general. Solidly built, great stand, great sound quality. The only possible complaint I can think of is that the USB cable is ugly. This doesn't matter, since it can easily be replaced with any miniUSB cable, but it would've been nice to get a black cable with the black model. ... More

I got this for 50$ (45$ now) and its incredibly reasonably priced, and the sound quality is fantastic. I was able to set it up without issue immediately, and have been using it for the last year and a couple months. The only reason you might not want this is if you have a setup (monitor/desk/whatever) where the height or shape of the microphone becomes a problem (like its obstructing the monitor or something, or you cant fit it. Double check the dimensions on it and think about where you want to place it before you buy it, and watch some videos/pictures to see what it looks like size-wise as well. ... More

I use the mic primarily for podcasting. I have two (usually one for each person speaking), and have been exceptionally pleased with the quality. I was skeptical that the quality would be of the same level as professionally-recorded audio, but am happy to say that I was wrong: with the right room and setup, these mics sounds as good as any pro-audio interview mic I've heard. The design is attractive and simple (a single USB port and switch), and the plug-and-play ease of use is wonderful. The mics were heavier and slightly bulkier than I anticipated, but I'm willing to live with it given the price and quality. ... More

I use the Snowball to import audio (narration) when creating videos in iMovie 2014. When using the Snowball correctly, it produces a smooth, well-balanced audio signal and is easy to set up. The final product is also really enhanced when narrating with this nominally priced microphone. A real joy to have as a video accessory. My only negative comment about the Snowball is that you have to have it very close to your face in order to derive the best results from it. I don't mind this too much as I've used other more expensive mics that require the same input requirement. I would recommend this mic to anyone that wants to create additional soundtracks for videos, amateur or pro. ... More

I started a completely amateur podcast with my friends and for the money, this mic does the job. Whether I'm just using my voice in the cardioid mode or setting it up in the middle of a convo in omni mode, it works as advertised. Very easy to use and plug and play. If you have any experience with computers and minimal experience with garageband or a similar audio production software, it should be easy for you. The tripod stand could have been better utilized and really isn't tall enough, but stack it on some books and it's fine. I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy to use multipurpose usb microphone. ... More

I use the mic everyday playing online and it is crystal clear. Even being a teenager I am no longer called a little girl while people can hear my true voice. Clean and simple plug-in and use. Side note: Not many people know this but the quality on the Mic for at least me was one setting below max quality in windows, recording devices, properties, advanced.

This is a good quality mic and picks up both our voices clearly as we sit at our individual desks (about 5ft apart) while sharing the mic. Also works very well when producing various videos. I just wish it had an off button, so we would not have to play around with windows settings or unplug it when we don't want others to hear something. The missing 'off' button lost it 1 star. I think every plug-in mic should have a button.

Great Sound, nice and clear. I use this for Voice Over work when working on Radio commercials and V.O. for Video projects either TV Commercials of informational videos. Small draw back, if your in a noisy room, air ventilation is loud or fans or computers are noisy you might pick them up on the mic this is the only reason I can't give it a 5 star, but simply turning those off will eliminate that. I really love this mic for the sound I great from it and the price compared to others with the same quality.

I already have an external webcam with an inbuilt mic, but I’d been thinking more about the importance of being able to get my points and views across in meetings, which I think is more important particularly with remote working. Having a high quality mic enables me to do this. There’s a lot you can pay for these types of mics, but not being a musician or podcaster I don’t need all the additional features that you can get on more pricey models. Easy to use, high quality, perfect value.

This product is amazing. I bought for the purpose of pod casting and it works unbelievably well. I haven't tried it out for music yet, but i'm sure it will work with music maybe not the highest quality, but an amazing quality. The only part of the microphone that I do not like is that its a little heavy and bulky. With that con aside I would say this is the best microphone for its price range. If your budget is a little higher then i would suggest the At2020 or the yeti. All in all this microphone works amazingly well with music and pod casting. If you are having trouble with it, don't be smart and say you can do it without the Instructions, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! ... More

This is a good quality USB mic for recording VO, podcasts, skype, etc at home. It's not studio quality, of course, so don't expect professional-sounding audio. But it's a huge, affordable step up from the built-in mic on your computer. The tripod mount and shape of the mic is a bit unwieldy. It sits awkwardly to the side of my computer most of the time.Buy the white (Ice) model. It is $ cheaper from the black model, and the differences are purely cosmetic. I repeat: This is the same microphone as the other colors of Snowball mics, but cheaper.Fair warning: The white casing really shows dirt, especially if you take it off road or out on the highway. ... This mic came as a part of the promotion that was going on with the purchase of Audio-Technica ATH M50x headphones. Now, I didn't realize that Blue microphones are produced by Logitech. I have a real studio grade microphone from AKG, so I kind of disregarded the fact that this cheap microphone could produce any quality input. I was wrong. The recording from this microphone was very much usable and the size makes is convenient to carry around when you don't have the luxury to travel with the bigger mics. I wouldn't compare the recording quality with pro grade mics, but for the price you're paying (if someone buys one) this is clearly a good choice. ... More

I was sketchy about B&H when I looked up ''Blue Snowball'', $39.99 sounded like a sketchy price for a microphone, but after I placed my order, it shipped a few hours after ordering, I don't trust DHL after my phone case was in transit FOREVER they claimed it as ''LOST''. With this microphone though, it arrived in 4 days after shipping. I am a variety streamer and I was looking for a new microphone. Someone recommended BLUE MICROPHONES, so I looked for the cheapest microphone, and Blue Snowball was my only option since the YETI was $100. This microphone has worked ever since I got it all setup and has been working since. Great customer service helping me get the microphone setup. ... More

I was a little hesitant to buy this mic, as I was clueless about studio or pro quality microphones. I can tell you now that Blue did a FANTASTIC job with this little Snowball! I use it to record myself on guitar, and with this thing I can hear every little pick movement and slap of the hand on the wood. I love this thing! And actually, I'm using it to create some TV commercial voice overs, as well. It does the job great. The 3 choices available on the mic switch are all good in their own way. The one with the -10db pad on it is good for V.O. work so you can get close to the mic. I might recommend a pop filter, but other than that, this package is all you need! ... More

Asking for a mic recommendation on the @yielded a suggestion of the Snowball however using the snowball with a Mac Book Pro gave me recordings that were simply not loud enough. Very strange since there seemed to be many positive reviews of it on the Apple Forum and B&H cust reviews. Googling the problem though was the key. This lack of volume was discovered by many and many indicated that the people who make the Snowball do not answer posts about it or respond to email. VIsiting their site seemed to back this up so I returned the mic. I am not an audio pro but I do video professionally. Perhaps I had something wrong but there are no settings or buttons that you can change on the snowball. Thanks, Al ... More

This microphone is probably the best microphone that I have purchased for around this price. It is very compact and lightweight. This microphone has AMAZING sound quality. I mainly use it for plugging into my computer for screen recordings. It makes it so much easier not to have to do a voice over. The only bad part of the microphone is that the stand isn't the best quality. The plastic for the stand is kind of flimsy, but I haven't had any problems. Overall, this microphone is AMAZING!

I use this product to record my songs (guitar, vocals, various instruments) and it is worth it. I am very happy with it's clarity, I use it with Audacity. The three different settings on the back give good possibilities and options for either recordings for right in front of the microphone, loud sounds, and conferences to pick up sounds all across the room. I would recommend this microphone to those who are on a budget but still want a quality microphone, this is it! It also durable while still not too heavy. I have no doubts that this was not worth it, I am in love with it! ... More

I love the microphone and would probably use this at home on my personal computer. As for a conference room microphone, the recipients that are using Skype can't get enough volume to hear people at the other end of the room really clear. The adjustment doesn't allow for the levels to really pump the volume on the system software. One on One, no problem. We are still going to try to use it this way anyway because it is the most clear audio that we have had and there is no feedback for the people on Skype.

Turning around a karate studio during the Covid lockdown required a lot of changes. One of the most distracting elements for students trying out our online classes was degraded sound quality as I moved around the room. This inexpensive high-quality microphone made a world of difference and made our classes work much better. The mic was set about 3 feet in front of the iMac computer/camera and excelled in tracking me around the room. When I approached the monitor, getting a bit behind the mic it would lose me a bit, but still a vast improvement over the in-computer mic. A great buy. ... More

I needed a quick way to record some quality acoustic music for my dad's family trip DVD, and the Snowball did the job. Plug-n-play, used Audacity, and recorded a few crisp old-time banjo parts for the video (I know what you're thinking--deliverance, but that's BLUEGRASS banjo). Sound was very clean, a perfect alternative to the noisy racket recorded when using my laptop's internal speaker. Used the second setting, I thought it wasn't going to record hot enough but it gave me plenty of volume for what I needed. Great produce, would recommend.
