Though I cannot begin to compare this mic to my Neumann U87, it does have the same pattern options that make it useful in many venues. The sound is only the slightest bit crisp, but is good on acoustic instruments and male vocal. It shines on piano leaving no desire to EQ. I find it especially useful on remote locations; I would never use my expensive arsenal on drums at an outdoor concert, but the B2-PRO is awesome in figure eight pattern between the snare and hi-hat while rejecting the rack toms. I have learned less mics live and more mics studio is a good rule of thumb. Be assured that this versatile mic fills the need for a host of projects. ... More

A lot of treble

The case looks great, the mic looks great, as does the shockmount. The appearance of the way this mic is packaged is impressive. The switchable roll-off options are great. In theory, this should be a really nice vocal mic; however, the incessant treble hiss and absence of low end are troublesome. To say this mic is a tad crisp sounding is like saying Big Macs are kinda fattening. I spend way too much time EQing and not enough time recording. It has a hard time taking much direct volume as well. When singing, you need to stand back a little farther than you normally would. And then you'll have to turn it up in the mix which produces more hiss which will have to be EQed out and eventually you'll end up with flat vocals. My advice, if you're looking for an entry-level recording condenser, is to save the money you would spend on the B2 Pro and put it towards a Rode NT1A. Yeah, it's $75 more and you don't get a cool metal case, but you'll spend less time fumbling around with your preamp for a decent sound and more time actually singing. ... More

Great mic. that is quiet in all the right ways. Also very responsive, and with the onboard switches you can customize this mic to any situation/room/person. I would seriously consider buying one of these if you are looking for a Rode NT1A or 2, but just simply can not afford one of them. This is the best alternative in my opinion, and in some scenarios this mic can actually be just as effective as a Rode NT1A-2(in my opinion). I have owned 2 of these mics, and upon me purchasing the send mic, I could afford a Rode...and still went with this mic. Can't say anymore or less about it. ... More

I own several LDCs from $200 (B-2 PRO) to $2500 (Peluso P12 & 2247) For the money, these cannot be beat. They are the best value LDC hands down. Yes, the highs are lifted. As long as you know that going in, you grab the right mic pre or shelf the EQ slightly, you can make ANYTHING sound great with the right placement. Are they as detailed as an AKG 414 or a higher end tube condenser? Well no, but again, look at what you got for the money! I had to write this review because a friend asked me what is the next mic he should buy in the $200 range. After thinking bout it, B-2 PRO is the only answer. ... More

It's hard to fault the Behringer B2 Condenser Studio microphone. The fact that it features cardioid, figure eight and omni directional patterns in an extremely affordable package makes it hard to beat. It is clear and present and you probably won't need to use your "Air" control on your Focusrite. It rocks! Beware of the marketing tactics for similar $3,200 mikes. Behringer makes parts for most of the leading brands!

Very flexible for the price. The upper mid range is lifted a little father than your typical MXL mic, but this makes it the perfect match for a Tube Mic Pre or the GA Pre Jr. These pre's roll off the high end but with the Pro 2 the upper mid area never gets "soft", it sits about perfect without EQ, at least on my voice. A good deal IMHO!

I'm not easy to impress and I don't leave many reviews. This one is easy. The microphone is in excellent shape and actually better than described. Set it up this morning, did an A/B test with another LDC and it sounds outstanding. I bought it so I can do Mid-Side Mic technique and will checking that out soon. This is an excellent microphone and I'm glad I bought it. Good guys too.
