Manual Old Man

Jan 8, 2017

I purchased this lens for a 645z. I know it is not the current generation class of lenses for the z, but it does have the proper coverage for the image. It has a manual aperture ring with an auto lock button on it (A); works fine in both modes. When comparing the images in a two shot test I noticed a half f-stop difference in the two. The lens was closed down to f22, ISO/200, shutter speed/125. I viewed the un-manipulated images in Photoshop. The... Show More

needed for fashion/portrait

Jan 14, 2019

I recently purchased this lens with the 645z camera body and I could not love it more. I recently moved into the pentax 645z world and knew nothing about their lenses so i took a guess at what I would need to transition my daily work load to the pentax if needed. Im a full time professional commercial/promotional photographer and spend most of my time in the studio shooting in the 90-200mm range so this lens looked like a need. This is now my abs... Outstanding lens with a couple of forgivable quirks

Jun 14, 2018

I don't buy lenses very often. I use a select number of primes for specific purposes and so far the 55mm/2.8 and the 90mm/2.8 macro have been excellent for all my studio shooting. But I decided that I needed to get tighter framed shots, portrait closeups usually, so I bought the 150mm/2.8. After a handful of shoots I can say I am very happy with it. The sharpness is outstanding, even wide open at f/2.8, and the contrast and rendering superb.... Show More

Fast and sharp FA 645 150mm f/2.8

Feb 19, 2015

I have had a chance to use this lens in the field and it is super! Fast, very sharp and compact. The only small annoying thing about these serries of Pentax lenses is the way you can slip in and out of auto focus very easily. The barrell can slip into manual mode without much presure. This happend to me while on a portrait shoot and made me look a bit silly in front of my cleint. It was my first time with the lens so I have figured out this little issue so I know to be careful whild using these lenses.

Sharp and warm images

Nov 17, 2017

I bought this lens because my 90mm 2.8 lens is a little bit short for headshots... The 150mm is much cheaper but offers excellent sharpness, and a beautiful bokeh... An additional advantage of the lens is that the AF works also with my 645N film camera... The newer lenses with the faster and quieter SDM autofocus won't have the AF working with the older film cameras...
