All-purpose short shotgun

As a professional sound recordist, I use this mic for film and TV shoots - mainly for voice recording but also for sound effects. I own a Schoeps CMIT5U (which I prefer), but I use the MKH60 as my second choice - and first choice when the weather is wet. The quality of sound is very close to the CMIT5U, but this mic seems to have a slightly wider pattern making it a bit more forgiving when your subject goes off-mic. It is a robust mic, a little longer and a bit heavier than the Schoeps. I also use it as a camera mic for channels 3 and 4, when mixing to 1 and 2.
