The e-604 mics are very good mics, and they can handle anything you throw at them. Sturdy, compact, and with a really clean sound, the output on these mics is very, very good. They can take a beating as well, should you accidentally hit one with a stick, which will happen sometime during a gig. Don't even think about other brands, go for the e-604's and you won't be sorry. I have used them for the last 8 years and they still sound as good as the first day. If you're thinking of buying drum mics, get the e-604 3-pack. I went ahead and broke the bank for these and I am very happy I did. I had a $75-off coupon from GC, so got these for a song (BTW, if you're not on their e-mail list, you're wrong and you're missing out). I've basically stopped using any EQ on my toms after buying these mics. Their performance in a studio application is amazing. They are rugged and are put together better than any mic I've ever used before (20+ years). There is very little to no bleed into these mics, they are very focused on what you're pointing them at. Even more so than their more expensive 904 counterparts (yep, I like a cheaper mic better). I've mic'd up some cheapo basswood shell drums and they sound great. I've mic'd up some great vintage kits as well and WOW! These replicate sound perfect and will indeed make a sub-rate kit (with good heads and tuning of course) sound better. I'm impressed with the clip mounts that come withm them as well. Very well constructed and reliable. I get the position I need without getting in my way. I think any drummer can appreciate that capability. I will always hand-carry these mics with me and insist that these are used on my drums. This is MY sound, and would recommend these to everyone. Let me start off by saying that i was very impressed by these mics. I was playing at a show which we had 15 minutes to set up and have sound check and i was worried about micing my toms but this micing system is very convenient, the sound man just slapped them on to my toms and i was all mic'd up after about 30 seconds! Secondly these mics really let my toms sing, they projected and i received several comments later thanks to these mics. I bought these mics a few months ago, since then instead of using "in-house mics" at venues I use my sennheisers! Not much EQing needed at all they are extremly clear and sound great for any gig and sudio use. Although in the studio they were "hot" meaning sensitve so some EQ adjustments were made. The look is great, very sleek and easy to clip to drums. The clip is very very sturdy and the optional mic adjutment allows for the perfect sound you want. Price is perfect! May seem to high for some but with Sennheiser you get what you pay for! These paired with an Audix D6 kick-mic and a SM57 for snare got my set sounding just right! ... More

I use these on stage and in the practice studio on my congas. Since they are small and compact with mounting clips that eliminate the need for bulky space consuming stands they clean up the clutter and help in keeping the stage looking tidy and organized. The mounting clips seem a little flimsy and could use a little more adjustment range but they work and have never come undone while in use. The mics work great and deliver clear sound bringing out tones that, when playing unplugged, are masked by all the other instruments or are otherwise hard to discern with the naked ear. A few adjustments on the equalizer and my drums sound great. I am going to get one more 604 to finish replacing the 57's I had been using. I wish it had been available in a four pack. ... More

These mics are easy to mount and sound great! I tried using three Sennheiser MD421s for Toms (about $1,100), but eventually got these and prefer the ease of use and quality of sound in these at about a third the cost! And now, a little mixing advice for those of you who are new to drum amplification. In recorded and live application, try cutting 8-15 dB out of 500Hz for a clean and mixable sound! I also like a 3-7dB boost at 3kHz to hear the slap of the drum. This EQ does very noticeable wonders for kick drums, too.

I had an entry level drum mic set,but thought the tom mics made the tom sound "plastic-y". I couldn't get a deep, full sound. These e604s Sound GREAT! Full bodied, DEEP (which is what I was looking for). Even with my floor tom tuned low, it reproduces the low tones very well. Don't misunderstand- plenty of snap on the high end, but more balanced than my previous tom mics. Clips work well, & adjustments are easy. Can't comment on durability, since I've only had them a short time.

There may be better sounding mics out there but you'll pay extra for them. This is a durable, well designed, full featured mic for a reasonable price.

Don't know why I waited so long to try these. Wish I had them years ago. They are extremely lightweight, which I believe means less resonance transferred through the mic and mounts (more isolation from the Tom means better sound, better, tighter low end... and the sound IS KILLER. I use them live and for recording. Just get them. You'll be happy. Great service from GC on these too, saved with a coupon, had them in two days. EZ, THANKS!

My name is Mark. I bought a set of these mics and used them for recording drums. This is one of the best drum mics I have heard and my top three favorite drum mics, sounds great without an eq. Very open and spacous, mids are scooped. great for all styles of drums.

These sound great, and they take up much less space than the SM57s which used to surround my kit. The clips fix nicely to the hoops of my drums. Unfortunately, they don't fit so nicely to my tom mounts, which obscure the hoops around 4 of the lugs. I made a custom shim so the clamp would hold onto the hoop well tightly enough. Not a dealbreaker, but was an inconvenience that a more adjustable clip might have handled. On the plus side, the back of the clip has a little hook for XLR cable management. A nice touch.

I've been using this mic for a couple of years now. Decided to purchase a second. They are very handy to have in live applications since you can simply clip them on and off easily opposed to moving strategically placed stands around. I like them on snare bottom and toms.

i needed a smaller size mic for amplifying my snare drum. I kept hitting the other mic I had and it was constantly in the way of my playing. This mic is much smaller and doesn't get in the way of playing.
It was not as advertised.

I needed a new microphone for my wind instruments. I decided to give it a try and paid an extra $20 to get it here the next day. Not only did it take 4 days to get to me it did not fit my oboe, clarinet, or saxophone with out modifications. Musicians friend should try applications before they list them on the site. Musicians Friend did honor the return price and shipping costs so they did square it with me. I then bought a Shure PGA98H from them and I am happy with it.

i've used them with very good results on toms and snares. i hear them as sounding mostly natural / neutral vs. other mics that have hyped EQ's. they are also very small in size, feather light, and easy to mount in tight spaces.

Super balanced tone across the kit from floor tom to snare. Very little color added to the tone of your drums. Nice directional isolation. Pretty much exactly what you’d expect from sennheiser mic’s. At $250 for 3 mics with clips and cables really what more could you ask for?

Any live sound engineer or venue should always keep a stock of 604s on hand. Easy, cheap, and they sound good. Grilles are prone to damage due to proximity to flailing drum sticks, but if you really worry about that, you can shell out a little more for the slightly more sturdy (all metal) 904s.

Upgrading my drum mics in my budget studio, these were a perfect addition for my toms. Made a big difference in the recording sound. Glad I caught them on sale, because I may not have bought them at the full price, even though they're worth it.

More roadworthy than my previous drum mics and they sound great live on my Starclassic birch kit thru an X32. Previously used Audix F90's, which are cool, but the tails are too sensitive and tedious for multiple live gigs weekly. My favorite live mics so far given the bang for buck.
