This is my 3rd Grado Prestige series purchase. I earlier got the SR80e, SR325e. I cannot hear a noticible difference in bass output comparing the 60e & 80e. I cut out a quarter sized hole in the foam pads of both the 60 & 80. This definitely changed the sound for the better on both models, as the full comfie pads slightly muffled the sound. In fact, after putting the uncut comfie pads onto my 325e, it sounded almost exactly like the 60 & 80!! Putting the L cush pads on the 60 & 80 also changed the sound of both for the better. If anyone looks at the frequency graphs for all the Prestige series headphones, the 60e is the closest to neutral of them all!! Don't get me wrong, the 325e sounds the best of the 3, but for anyone who wants the Grado sound without spending a lot, buy the 60e model. Don't forget to cut out a hole in the foam pads to open up the drivers. This makes a big difference in clarity, loudness of the mids, highs. Bass is the same however, with or without the mod. I tested a smaller foam pad from my Yamaha RH1C headphones with a hole cut in the center on all 3 models. It just barely fits but sounds good on the 60e model compared to the 80e & 325e. I also placed a small, thin, circular piece of acoustic foam inside the pads for added clarity. Not sure exactly how it works, but it does. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to all 3 headphones of the Prestige series. Buy a 60e & you will not be disappointed or feel like you're missing out on much better sound. ... More

I only have one set of decent headphones to compare these to (Audio Technica ATH-M50), so I will. I bought these for work, because the AT's were a little big, closed, and would warm up my ears after a while. These SR60e's are just the ticket. They're lighter and smaller, allow some sound in (and out, but that's not a problem), and stay pretty comfortable for hours on end. The sound is fantastic. I don't know all the jargon yet, but I know good sound when I hear it whether it be at a concert, in a car, or on my head. It's a good clean, well balanced sound. It's not as bassy as the AT's (which is one thing I love about them. They send bass do). They don't thump your head quite the same way, but there's still plenty of bass to do justice to some metal or a Pretty Lights playlist. Super happy with these, don't think I could have done better for the price. Plus I have the added satisfaction of actually buying a piece of electronics that was built in the USA. Thanks Grado! ... I bought these headphones to use exclusively at my desk-top computer along with my Dragonfly 1.2 DAC / Headphone amp... I do not normally do any serious listening through headphones; however, these cans offer a unique voicing for streaming classical music... Any well recorded classical music sometimes sounds thin... The voicing on these headphones fleshes out the sound just enough to make it aesthetically pleasing for headphone listening... I've listened to higher level Grados, and while they are good, I don't know how well they perform this particular thing... But if you listen to poorly recorded classical music, these phones will make the sound way too fat sounding...I am classically trained pianist and recording engineer, and for some reason, these phones hit some kind of sweet spot for me... Go figure... (m.) ... More

In the few days that I've owned these headphones, I have close-listened to more albums than I have in the past year. It is a pleasure to listen again. Thank you Grado for manufacturing such a high-quality product at this affordable price point. WELL done! These are an outstanding value. Perfect fit/feel and amazing sound for the price. Sound better than headphones that cost twice as much. The sound quality is very natural, not overly hyped in the lows like that one very popular brand. I absolutely recommend these if you are searching for a pair of open-back headphones for general listening. Do your ears a favor. Order from B&H for the best customer service in the world. ... More

My daughter had to have expensive celebrity-endorsed headphones because the sound was awesome. After reading reviews, I got her these instead. One listen was all it took to make her an enthusiastic Grado fan. She was really surprised when listening to her favorite songs: She could hear details in the music that she had never heard before with lesser headphones.

Clear high end. Not much bass though.

I gave em 4 stars because the other reviews are true, the bass is weak so I knew that before purchasing. For my purposes they are effective because they are good at detecting high end clipping and digital harshness while I record with guitar simulations and other plugins, like synths. Contrary to most reviews, on this site and others, I find these cans to be comfortable and the heavy cord actually feels more substantial, rather than obtrusive. I need other cans to record with these also used but I am overall happy with these cheap Grados.

I bought these as a gift for someone, but I have owned a pair for about 3 years. I'm a documentary camera op and mostly do run and gun on the streets, so it's important to have headphones that sound great but also don't block out the world around me. These headphones are perfect for that. They sound great but I can still hear the world around me, like traffic sounds so I don't get hit by a car. They are great for editing but only if you have your own room. Since they are open, others will hear what your listening to. I do wish the cord ran to one ear, which would keep the cord out of the way better. ... More

This is my 2nd pair of Grade SR60's. If audio detail is your thing and isolation isn't an issue ... these are good open air phones for the money. I think this is Grado's entry level model. Be advised they're on the bright side and the low end is NOT hyped but that's ok for me, I use them for tracking. Fairly comfortable once you break them in. The retro style isn't pretty but I've learned to love them.

I compare these headphones to the ones I normally use for mastering...the Sennheiser HD-580s. The Sennheisers are more comfortable, but both have similar response characteristics. Not exactly the same, but similar and very pleasing. For the price, you can't beat the Grado SR60e. I am very happy I purchased them.

Coming from Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones, these Grados are fantastic. While they are not as neutral (clinical, sterile, etc.) as the DT770s, they offer a warm soundstage with crisp sound. I feel as if I am in sitting on the stage. They are also incredibly lightweight. The foam pads don't bother me at all. These headphones are more enjoyable to listen to than the DT770s. But, I would not use them for audio work.

Needed headphones with flat on the ear cups so I could use them with my hearing aids. These headphones are great. The sound is clear and well defined. They are comfortable but the headband is a little large and not adjustable in its circumference. I needed to bend the frame to adjust the tightness against my ears. Doable solution but not as ideal as an adjustable band would be.

It turns out that I can get more enjoyment out of this head set (better sounds) than the other three sets that I have. Also, the note that came with the headset really had meaning for someone who used to play his tunes way too loud when he was younger.
